Sleaford Mods are one of the most distinctive bands in British music. For the launch of UK Grim on Rough Trade, we produced an hour long pre-filmed live stream combining live performances, band interviews and original visual content.
They needed a live stream for an album launch that felt like an event, not a recording.
The content had to hold attention for an hour across performances, interviews and track visualisations, while staying visually consistent with everything Rough Trade's in house team were producing around the release.
We filmed live performances and interviews with the band, alongside a conversation between Sleaford Mods and artist Cold War Steve, who had created the artwork and directed the UK Grim title track video.
For tracks not captured as live performances, we created short visual pieces for each one. Everything was coordinated with Rough Trade's in house design and marketing team. The UK Grim launch built on what we had learned producing the Spare Ribs album launch during lockdown, when finding a digital solution was the only option.
UK Grim reached number 3 in the UK albums chart and number 1 in the UK indie chart, Sleaford Mods' highest charting album to date.
