Floris

Flagship Store Refurbishment

Retail Interior • Build • Heritage Restoration

The Floris store on Jermyn Street is the flagship for a brand with genuine heritage. Sonder completed a full refurbishment, sensitively restoring original fittings that date back to the Great Exhibition of 1851, whilst upgrading the store to the level of a premium luxury brand.

The building is Grade II listed. Floris hold two Royal Warrants.

The store had been updated over the years but was looking tired and the original fixtures and fittings needed careful restoration rather than replacement. Every decision had to respect that history whilst moving the store forward for the next generation of the family business.

We worked closely with the Floris team, Planning Department and English Heritage throughout.

We selected specialist craftsmen and sourced bespoke materials to match the standard the store demanded. The Spanish mahogany cabinets were French polished and fitted with concealed soft lighting. We created a new Floris Museum within the store, telling the story of the family, the brand and its history. We also designed and delivered an interim pop-up shop nearby so trading could continue throughout the works.

A restored flagship that feels as premium as the products it sells, with its history intact.

New shop floor, ceiling, product displays, lighting design and store furnishings throughout, built around the original features that make the store what it is.
